A day in the life of Bart Simpson - Part II

After the nightmare has disappeared like the mist of a dying day I found myself lying in my beautiful bed. The tender sound of the crackling bokeh in the background, the smell of fresh coffee and the mumble in my stomach told me: It was time to get up and fight against the creatures of the night...

Arugula & Herb Pesto

Arugula & Herb Pesto

The best pesto ever because I grew the ingredients from my garden :-)

I eyeballed the amounts of the ingredients.

*Extra virgin olive oil
*Garlic
*Arugula, stems removed (or you can keep them on for more bitterness)
*Few leaves of mint
*Few sprigs of cilantro
*Freshly squeezed lemon juice
*Walnut, toasted
*Ground or grated nutmeg
*Salt & pepper
*Brown sugar
*Grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
*1-2 Sun-dried tomatoes (optional, for added flavor if lemon juice isn't enough)

Directions:

1. In a small saucepan over medium heat cook garlic in oil 5 minutes, then remove pan from stove top.
2. Loosely pack the food processor with arugula, mint, & cilantro.
3. Add: walnuts, the warm oil, & garlic to the arugula in the processor.
4. Add nutmeg, brown sugar, salt and pepper, & lemon juice to the processor bowl, set lid in place and pulse grind the mixture into a thick paste.
5. Add any remaining arugula (& sun-dried tomatoes if you choose to do so) to the processor & grind into the paste by pulsing the processor again.
6. Stir in the remaining oil and the cheese.
7. Taste pesto sauce and adjust seasonings.

Any remaining pesto can be frozen for later servings.

laleli zeytin yagi... laleli olive oil.

imagine my delight when i found this first class turkish olive oil at the wholefoods store... best eaten without cooking, on salads, bread dipping, etc.. for cooking use non-virgin olive oil. heating will kill most of the vitamins in it anyway, but still good things remain, that is reason for non-virgin, and it is cheaper too.

bunu buradaki yiyecek magzasinda gorunce cok sevindim ve hemen bir kactene aldim, kendim kullandigim gibi, hediye olarakda verdim.

Shawn Paul Making a Cocktail

Shawn Paul Making a Cocktail

If your guests call for something a little stronger, the bartenders at Corton recommend a festive seasonal punch that Emeril compared to "drinking an apple pie." Give it a try - we promise it's much more tasty than your average egg nog!

***

? oz Fresh Lemon Juice
? oz Muscovado Simple Syrup (recipe follows)
For garnish: 1 apple ring or slice

Combine all ingredients in a standard shaker and fill halfway with ice. Shake until combined and strain onto fresh large ice cubes. Garnish with an apple ring or slice.

For the Muscovado Sugar:
Muscovado sugar is a cane sugar is made by pressing sugarcane to release the naturally sweet juice and then cooking it slightly before allowing it to dry. bananas foster : preperation stage

bananas foster : preperation stage

4 ripe bananas
4 tablespoons butter
2/3 cup lightly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup rum, brandy, or Cognac
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
vanilla icecream

1. Peel bananas and cut into small slices
2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add brown sugar, rum, and cinnamon; stir to mix well. cook until the mixture comes to a boil, then reduce heat and cook, stirring until the sauce begins to thicken.
3. Add the bananas and cook, stirring gently, until the bananas are heated through, 1 1/2 to 2 minutes
4. Remove the skillet from the heat. Serve warm bananas and sauce over scoops of icecream.

notes:
1)If you're fancy like Jonathan, you get a lighter & set the rum on fire.
2) If you don't have rum, you can substitute orange juce, but then, no fire.

This makes 4-5 servings. And yeah, I had two.
